In this episode Prof. Roberto Bassani, head of the Spinal Surgery Unit II at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in Milan.
The cervical tract is the most delicate part of the spine, due to the characteristic mobility that distinguishes it. In fact, it supports and stabilizes the skull and at the same time protects the structures that pass through it, such as the spinal cord, nerve roots and the vertebral artery. The extreme delicacy of this stretch is proven by the fact that injuries to this area can even lead to quadriplegia and, if the injury occurs at the level of the first or second vertebra, even the death of the individual. In connection from the operating room an intervention for the stabilization of the colon that has undergone severe training will be shown. In the office, thanks to 3D graphics, Professor Bassani will show the main phases of the surgical procedure.
